Volt Automobile makers are vying to grab a market share in the extended-range electric vehicle popularly called as E-REV…With Toyota announcing a hybrid version, General Motors surely does not want to lag behind. The Chevrolet Volt is slated to be the best eco friendly car using the best clean technology at an unbelievable price

To be launched in the latter part of 2010, Volt will not use gas and hence does not have any emissions too. A superb propulsion system which uses a lithium-ion battery with a gasoline powered range extending engine that drives a generator to provide electric power ….much more and way ahead than the 40 mile battery range. It’s pretty advantageous to use lithium-ion batteries as they have more energy capacity and recharge faster apart from being small in size. Lithium batteries have been adapted for the first time to drive cars … while its gas fueled engine serve as electricity generator and battery charger and is not supposed to drive the wheels too. Great going for General Motors !!

Well, the Chevrolet Volt will not be having a transmission but on the center console it will have a mechanical shift lever which will but naturally save on precious electric power. Even accessories such as stereo, air-conditioning, windshield wipers have been reworked upon to consume less power.

Chevrolet Volt, an impeccable 5 door sedan with four passenger capacity and a front wheel drive is slated to enter the markets in late 2010. While, General Motors would wish its price to hover around $30,000, don’t be surprised if it reaches $40,000 when actually launched. Nevertheless with a question mark on it final price tag, you can always test drive it some time in mid 2010, giving you enough time to think it over its purchase.

Chevrolet Volt’s distinctiveness lies in it powerful battery which is never empty and in case of emergency you can even use its reserve power to drive a few more miles…Surprisingly, the General Motors Team called its battery “Diva” as it is truly special and commands respect and attention too.

You can expect a lot more from General Motors as they have an army of engineers and designers working day in and day out on extended-range electric vehicles
