Land Rover Discovery
The ‘Discovery’ is one of the best ranges of cars offered by Land Rover. As always it has offered everything a large SUV buyer could ever want. Its amazing off-road ability makes it stand strong against the various and different kind of offerings from the large MPV and executive classes.
There are two things that make Discovery stand out, firstly it has spacious and versatile cabin and secondly it has enormous off-road potential. Land Rover has always been a well reputed automobile company which makes cars that can cope with any type of terrain. Discovery doesn’t leave any stone unturned to prove this right once again for its customers. Along with the four-wheel drive and plenty of ground clearance, Discovery comes with a special feature which helps to adjust the ground clearance on cars fitted with air suspension via toggles behind the gear lever. It also has Land Rover’s clever Terrain Response system, which helps the driver to control the car’s four wheel drive and traction controller according to the conditions. Like always Land Rover’s Discovery comes up with smartly functional and stylish interiors. The passengers in the front row can enjoy an all round commanding view. The ample space available in the second and the third rows makes it a nice car to carry seven people very easily and conveniently. It’s also very easy to adjust the seating arrangement as all five rear seats fold flat into the floor, and this makes way for a massive cargo bay.
Although being such a large car, it still manages to go round corners without any untoward lean. Discovery may not have a steering which responds as immediately as BMW X5’s, but it is still a lot more quick than it has any right to be, given its size. The square-rigged design of the Discovery makes it easy to park. It also has parking sensors which are an option with the lower level cars and comes standard in the upscale models. The 2.7-litre V6 turbodiesel engine gives a reasonable performance. It gives up plenty of low-rev shove and continues to stay smooth and unruffled even when pressed at higher speeds. It comes with a slick six-speed automatic gearbox in the more pricey versions and has a manual six-speed gearbox which is not that difficult to get along with.
Overall, Discovery is calm and serene, which puts many other executive class cars to humiliation. Renault Grand Escape and Chrysler Grand Voyager fail to compete strongly with Discovery. The Discovery has the picture and driving etiquettes which should be ranked really high. If you aren’t looking for a car that gives you an extreme sports car feel, than we recommend you Discovery as it impresses a lot with it’s flexibility in terms of its cabin and driving ability.
