Volkswagen Beetle-Now in India
The Tata Motors introduced their Nano and just after a day Volkswagen announced that a Beetle will be ready to hit the Indian roads by April. The first beetle drove on the German roads exactly seven decades ago and now it is all set for the Indians to try their hands on it. Beetle would not actually cost the same as the Nano, in fact it’ll be 20 times more expensive but the car will be available in 1.9 litre TDI diesel variant.
The Beetle will have a conventional front engine which will be able to strike a maximum speed of 180 km per hour. The belles and whistles on the Beetle would comprise of rain antennas and cruise control along with acoustic rear parking antennas so that the car can fit into smaller parking space. The safety features in the Beetle includes traction control, anti-skid system, ABS and front and side airbags and it will also be motorized by a manual conduction.
In India, the Beetle will be a completely built unit (CBU) from Germany and only one diesel trim will be offered here. According to the users of the Beetle available in 1.9 TDI diesel variant it is a very well balanced car and the TDI is very economical and responsive. The two back seats are pretty comfortable even for two adults.
The company has recently launched their new Beetle model which is a 2.5L 5 cylinder engine hurling up a 150 horsepower in the European market.
